Manitoba Blue Cross wins two customer service awards

We are thrilled to have received two customer service awards at the annual Manitoba Excellence in Customer Contact Achievement (MECCA) gala.

For the second year in a row, our customer service team took home the Community and Health & Wellness awards, both in the small centre category.

The Community award recognizes outstanding voluntary contributions made by contact centres to Manitobans. The recipient is selected for demonstrating spirit and enriching both the workplace and the community. The Health & Wellness award recognizes contact centres that help their employees enhance their personal and professional lives through a wide-ranging wellness program.

"These honours are more evidence of our strong commitment to community and the health and wellness of our employees,” said Christina Kenny, manager of member services at Manitoba Blue Cross. “Our team’s dedication to serving our community goes beyond simply offering superior customer service. We are all truly devoted to improving the health and well-being of all Manitobans.”

In 2023, we continued our strong community engagement initiatives. Our United Way campaign was our most successful yet, with 97 per cent employee participation and over $135,000 raised. Employees participated in regular blood drives, Santa Claus and Pride parades, career fairs and neighbourhood cleanup activities. Each year, employees also get paid to volunteer during work hours – with 730 hours of paid time completed in 2023.  

Our wellness initiatives for employees include a hybrid work program, digital wellness platform and comprehensive employee benefits, among others.

“It’s vital that we support our employees in all aspects of wellness, and from the results we’re seeing, it’s clear that we’re on the right track,” Kenny said.  

The annual MECCA awards, held by the Manitoba Customer Contact Association (MCCA), have recognized excellence in the province’s customer contact industry since 1999.
