Expanded partnership reduces stress for Manitobans heading south

With this continued focus, we have introduced an enhancement to our travel coverage to provide further support.
Expanded direct billing in the United States
“We understand the hardship of paying out-of-pocket for medical expenses incurred out of country – costs which can be quite significant,” says Nikki Makar, individual products & sales manager. “We have eased this financial burden for members travelling in the U.S. by expanding our partnership with CanAssistance, our emergency travel assistance provider.”
Those with Manitoba Blue Cross travel health coverage are now eligible for direct billing with the 95 per cent of physicians, hospitals and clinics across the U.S. who are a part of the CanAssistance network. This means eligible medical expenses will be processed immediately, so travellers won’t have to pay medical fees upfront and wait for reimbursement.
Travel claims transition
As part of our expanded partnership, CanAssistance is now processing travel claims on behalf of Manitoba Blue Cross (including international travel claims).
Policyholders can submit all travel-related claims directly to CanAssistance through the secure upload feature on their website or by mail to:
